Busytown (Review)

THE PLAY: This bright musical is a compilation of characters and stories from children’s books by popular author Richard Scarry. The ensemble of 6 plays a variety of roles.

THE PRODUCTION: This cast was so enthusiastic and energetic, I was exhausted just watching them. They all sing and dance with skill, but the boundless joy they bring to the stage kept the kids enthralled and the adults delighted. The bouncy songs and audience participation boost the enjoyment. Director Jan Guarino has added plenty of physical comedy to appeal to a young audience. The set, costumes and lighting all enhance the production’s colorful appeal. This isn’t one of those kiddie shows with sly adult humor. It’s a rousing, non-stop 60 minutes of children’s entertainment.

THE POINT: A full-on, fun-filled children’s delight.
