If you’ve never been to InLight you’re missing one of the most interesting and innovative art events in the country. Organized by 1708 Gallery, it’s a free public exhibition of light-based art and performances. It consists of projections (some gigantic ones on the sides of buildings), interactive installations and illuminated sculptures. It started downtown on a rainy First Friday in 2008 and has moved to different areas of town each year. It’s along the Riverfront Canal Walk this year (11/8, 7-midnite) and will feature projects that will illuminate waterways, pathways, walls, sidewalks, green spaces, bridges and terraces.

There’s a lantern parade, food trucks and a cool crowd. InLIght was just awarded the Pollack Prize for Arts Innovator by Richmond Magazine. I produced this video in 2009 to celebrate the second year.
