Luz (review)

This is an experimental, opaque, thriller (?) from Germany. There’s a wisp of a plot about a cab driver and the woman in her car. including some sort of life/death/alien thing going on, but it’s never clear…and I’m sure that’s on purpose. Those who might be entertained by a intentionally vague, visually murky, definitely pretentious cinema might find it absorbing. The sound design (although at times intentionally overbearing) is interesting and the purposely-grainy footage seemed an unnecessary distraction. In German with subtitles. (Criterion Cinemas only)
