Maiden (review)

Tracy Edwards made history when she led the first all-female crew to sail around the world in the 1989 Whitbread competition. This doc features interviews with the crew and others involved in the event, plus lots of (sometimes crappy) footage of the race, especially the crew at sea. It’s an interesting story of pluck and determination told in a traditional manner. Even with the significance of their accomplishment and a few tears, there’s not a lot of emotion or drama in the movie. Historically noteworthy, but not cinematically special.
