Table 19 (review)

A group of seeming misfits is seated at a distant table at a wedding. The group includes some talented comic actors, including Lisa Kudrow, Craig Robinson and Stephen Merchant. Unfortunately, the misguided erratic script gives them little to work with. There’s a pitifully predictable romance featuring Anna Kendrick who’s frustrated after her breakup with the bride’s brother (played by Wyatt Russell, who sure looks like his father Kurt). The other tablemates get some sort of dramatic arcs, but none are interesting. What starts out as a potentially quirky comedy, drags along without any laffs (and a few pratfalls), then rapidly rambles into dull dramatic encounters. The narrative and direction often seem random, leaving you scratching your head about why anyone would want to sit at this table.
