Last week’s Canvas video showed you one of VMFA’s affinity groups. The other major arts org in town is VCU and they have the Pollak Society. Anyone who gives $1K or more to the School of the Arts is an automatic member (about 140 right now). Recent events included:

    – a bus trip to see the Nasher Museum in Raleigh

    – reception at the Swiss Embassy to meet the architect of the new ICA

    – trips to Art Basel (Miami) & theatre/fashion/art in NYC

    – reception at a private residence to enjoy their collection and meet Shaka Smart

    – a special celebration at the Valentine (featuring TheatreVCU students). See more in the video.

NOTE: Found this out the hard way: If you designate ur contribution to a specific department or school, it does NOT count toward Pollak Society membership.
