THE PLAY: This first act takes place in a hospital room where Ben is dying, while his delightfully dysfunctional family gathers to bicker and bitch. Act Two takes the show in an unexpected direction, as the focus turns to the son.

THE PRODUCTION; Jacqueline Jones has had an acting career loaded with varied and rich roles. This indomitable character is matched by Jacqueline’s powerhouse performance. Her flawless timing makes every moment of this horrible and hilarious woman continually funny and occasionally touching. The rest of the cast solidly supports her. Director Billy Christopher Maupin has allowed the actors to mine every laugh (and there are plenty), while masterfully regulating the pace to allow tension and drama. The technical elements are solid, although some simplification could have made the scene change shorter.

THE POINT: While this is a strong production, Jacqueline Jones’ performance is a highlight of the season and her career. Don’t miss it!
