Sasheer Zamata can be funny when she’s playing characters on Saturday Night Live, but this starring vehicle fails to make her (or the movie) remotely amusing. She plays a struggling comedian who goes on a weekend getaway with her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend. From the first scene, the plot is completely transparent, so the only thing that’s left is the dialogue and characters. Sadly, their continual repartee is bland and trite, while the actors themselves have no discernible traits to make them appealing. Especially disappointing is Zamata, whose mean-spirited comments never land as insults or punch lines.
