The Velveteen Rabbit (review)

THE PLAY: This adaptation of the popular children’s book is about a stuffed rabbit and his relationship with the little boy that owns him.

THE PRODUCTION: In keeping with the style of the book, this production has a gentle pace and less action than most children’s shows. Still, the kids were rapt for every minute. Thanks largely to director K Strong’s magical staging, which includes enchanting puppetry (with puppets created by the late Terry Snyder), some simple special effects and a sweetly charming cast. Brian C. Barker’s indoor/outdoor set is beautiful and it’s complemented by Ruth Hedberg’s lovely costumes and BJ Wilkinson’s equally pretty lighting.

THE POINT: Children are sure to be charmed by the enchanting staging of this lovely production.
