The 2015 Virginia Film Festival will host film historian/critic Leonard Maltin as special guest. He will act as a guest programmer for the Library of Congress Series (celebrates films found on the National Film Registry) and host of a number of screenings and discussions. They’re also partnering with the new Violet Crown Charlottesville on the Downtown Mall to serve as primary host venue. The full schedule of films and guests will be announced 9/29 with tickets on sale 10/2.


To complement the VMFA exhibition Japanese Tattoo: Perseverance, Art, and Tradition, they’re presenting a Tattoo Arts and Film Festival, including features, a session exploring Japanese anime, talks by world-renowned experts and tours. Some events are free, but Festival Passes are limited. See the full schedule here and reserve a pass.


A major feature film is seeking unpaid interns (school credit is offered) in the Art, Wardrobe, Camera, Graphics and Production departments. Must be able to work full and part-time (10-20 hours per week). Send an email with background, interests and reason for wanting to work on the film (be specific about availability this fall and include a resume).
