The Bijou Film Center is presenting the Richmond premiere of “Finding Vivian Maier” (nominated for Best Documentary Oscar) about an unusual, somewhat mysterious and quite talented photographer. (I’ve screened it and it’s worth seeing for her photographs and her story). 2/15, 7 pm at the Byrd, $7. There will also be a surprise Oscar-winning short. Proceeds will be split between the Byrd Theatre Foundation’s “Journey to the Seats” and the Bijou Film Center. Advance tix are at Eventbrite ($5 plus processing fee) or at Bygones Vintage Clothing, , Candela Books + Gallery and Ipanema until 2/15. There’s a happy hour before at Portrait House and a free after-party at the New York Deli with live music by Chez Roué (one of front man Roger Carroll’s last gig’s before moving to Chicago).
