The VPA is sponsoring Film Day at the General Assembly on 1/28, 8-noon. This event is been instrumental in getting legislation that benefits our industry and you can help educate Virginia lawmakers about the value of production to the state. There will be a display table in the lobby and visitors will be provided with coffee, Krispy Kremes, popcorn and information about the important role we play in Virginia’s economy. If you’ve never been and want to come volunteer, VPA members will be on hand to help you.  The GAB is at 201 North 9th Street (corner of 9th and Broad).  Send an email to VPA Chairman Terry Stroud with any questions.

 

Speaking of the Virginia Film Office, they have a job opening for an Administrative Staff Assistant. A VTC application referencing #0301, MUST accompany resume. Do not contact the VFO directly.  Pay is  $30,007-$43,888 and application deadline is 1/28.

The 4th Annual RVA Environmental Film Festival (RVA EFF) has announced the winners of their doc contest:

1st prize ($1,000): Melissa Lesh, “James River Sturgeon”

2nd prize ($300): Briget Ganske, “Belle Isle”

Runners up: ($100 each): Dave Miller, “Breathing Life Into The Chesapeake” and Ellie Morris, “An Affair With The James.”

They will be screened 2/9 at the Byrd.

 

The 3rd episode of THE CELL, a web series which features Virginia actors along with Karlee Perez of WWE Wrestling fame) has been launched.
