FILM DAY is 1/28 (7am-noon) at the General Assembly. The VPA will have an informational booth in the lobby of the General Assembly building (9th and Broad) and you’ll also have the opportunity to visit your state lawmakers and tell them what Virginia’s film industry means to you. VPA members will be on hand to help. If you can’t attend, go to the Virginia General Assembly website and ask your lawmakers to support funding for Virginia film incentives.


The James River Film Society will be presenting the 1st annual Microcosmic Shorts screening at the 23rd James River Film Festival (April). They’re seeking submissions shorter than 5 minutes (all genres: experimental, documentary, animation, narrative). Send an email with an MP4 or Vimeo link (& password, if necessary) with “Microcosmic Shorts” in the subject line. Deadline 3/5. Open to filmmakers in or from the Richmond with no fee.
