More good news for Virginia: AMC has announced that TURN has been renewed for another season. The series averaged 2 million total viewers in its first season, including 709,000 viewers in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic. It will return next spring with 10 new episodes.

 

The General Assembly has finally concluded the budget process and we now know the our outcome for our industry. There are $13 million in tax credits and $4.8 million in grants [GMPOF] for the next two-year budget cycle. This is the strongest result that we’ve ever achieved for incentive funding. The VPA, which was so influential in promoting this effort, is urging all production people to join and help support our lobbying efforts.

The Byrd Theater’s latest opportunity for funding is a challenge grant by The Cabell Foundation. If the Theater is able to raise $250,000 by 6/30, the Foundation will match the total donation amount. If the theater falls short, they will receive no matching funds. So, pitch in!
