The schedule for this year’s James River Film Festival (4/10) is up. Highlights include guitarist Marc Ribot and 5 filmmakers with their films, a 35mm screening of “The Man Who Fell to Earth,” Rural Route Films plus lots more.

The James River Film Society is also hosting “Lost Colony,” the feature debut for director Chris Holmes (shot in the Outer Banks), who will be here for the screening, 4/1, 7:30, Visual Arts Center (1812 W Main), free.

Also, there will be a 7th anniversary edition of the James River Filmmakers Forum (screening the work of local and visiting filmmakers) plus live music by Lobo Marino. 4/2, also at VisArts, 8pm, free pizza and cash bar, $4.

Mason Mills is back at The Community Idea Stations as a senior producer/director. His first project is on Alzheimer’s told through the caregivers point of view.


Liquid Action Martial Arts is hosting a beginner workshop titled “Introduction to Gun Defense for Film” for stunt actors.  Martial Arts Masters Pamela Justice & Steve Woodward. 4/30, 1-4, Stony Point Fashion Park (Suite 193), $125.
