The 10-part series historical series “Legends and Lies” airs 4/12, 8pm on the Fox News Channel. Virginia director Kevin Hershberger shot much of it in his native state, esp. Goochland County. Each episode features an iconic figure of the Old West, including Billy the Kid, Wild Bill Hickok, Davy Crockett and Jesse James. The show got some good local ink in Richmond Magazine.

The Virginia Film Festival is now accepting entries. This includes features, docs, shorts, animation and experimental works (held this year 11/5-8). Fees $10-$35, free for Virginia residents and students at Virginia schools.


Mansion House Productions will hold an open call for extras on new PBS American drama, “Mercy Street” 4/2, 4 – 8 at 2013 Maywill Street. Casting Director Chad Darnell is looking for men and women ages 18+ to play doctors, nurses, patients and soldiers in the upcoming Civil War series (specifically very thin men with no tattoos and male amputees to play soldiers). Production is mid-April thru June.
