We were saddened to hear that distinctive longtime VO talent and all-around nice guy Gus Travers died last Sunday. Details on a celebration of his life to come soon.


“Troop 491: The Adventures of the Muddy Lions,” which was shot here last year, is opening 10/4 at Criterion Cinemas. It’s slated for a one-week run, but could be extended if ticket sales merit it. I’ll post a video from the premiere next week.


The Governor’s office reported that there’s been a 15.7% increase in employment in the Virginia film industry (according to a report with a very long name). It details the impact of the film incentive program: Eleven projects received $11.8 million in incentives and spent $66.4 million in the state, generating a total economic impact of $139.1 million.


Local actor Coby Batty attended the premiere of James Franco’s “Child Of God” at the New York Film Festival last weekend. He was in the movie (not his first collaboration with Franco).

 “Honey” is seeking 6-8 extras 20s-60s for an upscale office party scene. Shoots 10/4. Send an email with H/R and “Extra” in the subject line. Unpaid.
