The Wrong Missy (review)

To manage expectations: This project is produced by Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions, so you can expect plenty of over-the-top silly. This one stars David Spade in a bad wig that never provides any decent punchlines. While he thinks he’s texting a hot woman named Missy, he’s actually communicating with a different woman, who’s an outrageous, outspoken, wacky mess (Lauren Lapkus). Their getaway to a corporate retreat has all the expected setbacks and silly situations. Much of it’s just stoopid, but Lapkus is the saving grace. Her eccentric comic charms make the absurdity of this premise work. I’m not a big fan of Sandler’s taste/style of moviemaking, but Lapkus makes this one enjoyable. 3 out of 5 stars (3 / 5) Netflix link
