I leave for vacation tomorrow, but didn’t wanna let these abbreviated reviews wait for 2 weeks.

Palm Royale
If you started this and gave up by the 3rd ep, try Ep 4 when Burnett is hilarious every second and the plot twists get interesting. Kristin Wiig stars as an ambitious woman trying to make it in exclusive Palm Beach society in 1969. There’s great art direction and wonderful period wardrobe, plus a cast that includes Allison Janney, Ricky Martin, Laura Dern and Josh Lucas. But it’s Carol Burnett who ups the show’s comedy. (Review based on 4 of 10 one-hour eps) 4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5) Apple TV+ link

Música
Rudy Mancuso is an internet musician personality who stars and directed this unique romcom. He has synesthesia, which means he hears sounds around him and composes them into songs. This translates into energetic, delightful music/dance numbers that spontaneously pop up. He’s also added some cinematic tricks and quirky elements like a talking puppet. The result is a fun musical treat with a Brazillinan beat wrapped in a charming little comedy. 4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5) Prime Video link

Renegade Nell
Louisa Harland plays the title character, a smart and sassy woman who becomes a notorious outlaw in 18th-century England. She’s aided with magical super strengh provided by a spritely spirit (Nick Mohammed, not taking advantage of his comic ability). There are rousing adventures as they hold up coaches, but things progress with other manner of intrigue. The cast is full of enjoyable characters and the energy propels the series with a surprisingly saucy approach for a Disney series. (Eight 30-minute eps). 3.5 out of 5 stars (3.5 / 5) Disney+ link
