This is based on a true story of 4 women who were fans of the New England Patriots, especially Tom Brady. As a result, Hollywood has assembled a super group of age-appropriate actors to lead the charge: Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno and Sally Field (all playing character types they’ve done before). While the quartet is working hard to find amusing moments, the trite script offers nothing in the way of comic assistance. There’s plenty of energy and some football flash, but there wasn’t one good laugh in the whole movie. Considering the assembled talent, it’s disappointing that they couldn’t have gotten better material than this insipid, frankly embarrassing attempt. BTW, Brady has an impressive little moment of sincerity.
