This show is based on a series of video games that take place in a post-apocalyptic LA. Two hundred years after the bombing, some citizens are attempting to start a new civilization in underground shelters, while others roam the scorched surface where there are all manner of challenges. There are several plots running simultaneously, but one woman (Ella Purnell) leaves the security of her bunker to find her imprisoned father. This introduces her to various good and bad characters, including the Ghoul (Walton Goggins). The retro-futuristic bunkers add a fun design angle, while the wasteland features more a traditional sci-fi look. Since the story does wander (as do the people) it’s hard to get much narrative momentum, but each of the timelines offers interesting developments. There’s also some expected violence and other sci-fi elements. While it presents some interesting concepts, not much was finalized before the finale, so a 2^nd season is obvious.
