Lee

Kate Winslet is continually compelling as Lee Miller, who became an acclaimed photographer/correspondent during World War II. Her story is framed in an interview with a young reporter (Josh O’Connor) as she flashes back to starting as a model in France before discovering her passion for being behind the camera. Ultimately, she ends up as one of the first people to photograph the Holocaust horrors during the liberation of the death camps. Unfortunately, this powerful sequence is the film’s only moving moment (with Andy Samberg turning in a surprisingly dramatic performance). The narrative showcases Miller’s tenacity and talent while the film showcases  Winslet’s considerable skills. 3 out of 5 stars (3 / 5)
