In 2010, Sante Fe art dealer Forrest Fenn buried a box filled with gold and jewels in an unknown location. He also published his memoir that contained clues to the treasure’s whereabouts, including a cryptic poem. This documentary took 5 years to explore this phenomenon, which became an international sensation with more than 300K people on the search. To make the general information more involving, the filmmakers follow several of the “hunters” on their quests. These folks add personality to the series, as well as some mild suspense…will one of them be the one who finds it? Toss in plenty of coverage from the media and some beautiful nature footage (possibly stock) to round out the adventure. This is a fascinating true story about the 10-year quest for the prize and the surprises, dramas and even tragedy that results. (Three one-hour eps) (3.5 / 5)
NOTE: This film includes the involvement of Richmonders Dean King and James Campbell and my podcast with them will drop Wednesday, April 9.
