Tim Robinson has a following for his style of awkward comedy with 2 shows on Netlfix (“I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson” and “Detroiters”), but I’ve found his type of humor falls flat. In this film, he plays his typical loser who befriends a new neighbor (Paul Rudd). Their relationship gets strained from his continuous efforts to be as cool as his new “friend.” Robinson is in full force, constantly going too far with his character’s befuddled and indignant reactions. Rudd keeps it casual. Writer/director Andrew DeYoung fits Robinson’s style of cringe comedy. While the GenZ audience around me was audibly enjoying it, I didn’t laugh once during the entire movie. Apparently, Robinson doesn’t do it for me and neither does his movie. (1 / 5)
