Unlike “Heads of State” (my review), which puts the male leaders of the US and Britain in comic danger, this puts the 2 female leaders of France (Julie Delpy) and Britain (Suranne Jones ) on a more serious path to thriller land. The PM’s husband is kidnapped, which starts the action, but when the visiting French President is blackmailed, things get complicated. This is a twisty, sometimes tense political drama that’s sharply written and effectively performed. Even though there may be some things that stretch credibility, the taut direction and smart script keep it involving and electrifying right up to the end.
