This is the 6th time that a movie has been made about the giant killer snake and it’s not getting any better. Jack Black, Paul Rudd, Steve Zahn and Thandiwe Newton play friends who decide to shoot a new version. Their trip to the Amazon goes wrong in several ways, but none of them are remotely amusing. Even though it’s billed as a comedy and the cast has the talent, the script is never funny, so they have little to work with. Black does his usual bluster, Rudd is underplayed charming, Newton adds little, so only Zahn offers any hint of humor. On the positive side, the quick snake attacks provide great jump scares. That’s not enough to sustain an entire film and even though the cast is making the effort and running around a lot, it’s more frustrating than entertaining. BTW, there are 2 cameos that add a smidgen of fun.
