John Cho plays a branding exec whose latest client is the creator of a new digital assistant that’s like Alexa on steroids. Obviously, the AI (as in the title) starts helping the family before things get out of their control. She becomes more protective to the point of causing trouble for them and others. This latest attempt to warn us of the dangers of artificial intelligence has some unsettling occurrences and disturbing outcomes. It seems to be building to an even more frightening level when…it’s over. As a result, it never rises to the potential of thriller, but still remains a compelling look at the perils of new technology in a mildly enthralling package.
