The latest in the franchise may be the worst yet. A small group of young residents from a distant mining planet boards a derelict space station. No surprise, it was the ship from the original movie and, also no surprise, it’s loaded with a range of face huggers. There are 2 options to make this thriller worth watching. 1. Do something new with the aliens. 2. Capture the terror of the attacks. Unfortunately, neither is the case. While they do present some minor variations on the creature, the film is never remotely scary. Just very dark and sinister. Director Fede Alvarez has created tension before in Don’t Breathe (my review), but his skills are wasted here. It’s interesting to see the continuation of the alien concept, but this new installment goes no further. (1 / 5)
