All Her Fault

In the opening scene, a mom (Sarah Snook) drops in to pick her son up from a playdate, but the woman who lives in the house has no idea what she’s talking about. And the crisis of the missing child begins. The big question is: Who is “her?” The clever aspect of the title is that the pronoun refers to a different woman in almost every episode. Snook emotes with trauma and pain continually. She’s good at it, but after a while, it seems a bit much. As the mom of the playdate (and also a “her”) Dakota Fanning becomes her friend, while dealing with the guilt that builds with each revelation. As the father, Jake Lacy adds more complexity to the plot. Even though it drags out longer than necessary and the continual conflicts get repetitive, the series does have its compelling elements and the twists keep it watchable. (8 one-hour eps) 3 out of 5 stars (3 / 5)
