The latest from Ryan Murphy is his most derivative yet…and that’s derivative from his OWN body of work. It follows a group of women lawyers played by Kim Kardashian, Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash, Glenn Close and Sarah Paulson with performances from earnest to embarrasing. They enter every scene, at work or home, in impossibly unrealistic work clothes: over-the-top haute couture that makes them look fashion fabulous. They address cases involving rich, mistreated women that are quickly dispatched with each episode. The real focus is the drama-soaked lives the lawyers lead, so this quickly becomes a high-end soap opera with roots in “Dynasty.” I gave up after 4 eps because I expected more than a fashion show.
