SO MUCH SCREAMING! Apparently, it’s the love language between a brother (Dan Levy) and his sister (Taylor Ortega). They come by it honestly from their loud passive/aggressive mother (Laurie Metcalf). The main plot has the siblings involved in an escalating series of criminal activities that aren’t especially involving. It’s really more about the challenges they face keeping their capers secret, while coping with their own love/hate relationship and a few other issues. Since Levy is also the showrunner, we’d expect some dark humor a la “Schitt’s Creek,” but this series never delivers. He and Ortega are never likeable and Metcalf is one blustery step away from the Jamie Lee Curtis’ over-the-top mom in “Scarpetta” (my review). The plot continually stretches credibility, which would be OK if it was clever. The best thing about the series is the snappy pacing. Levy’s sophomore effort tries hard, but doesn’t really land even from a cringe comedy angle. (Eight 30-minute eps) 2.0 out of 5.0 stars
