Jennifer Lawrence plays a soldier back home to New Orleans after a devastating brain injury. In addition to working thru the physical challenges of rehab, she also deals with emotional issues. When her truck breaks down, she ends up befriending the mechanic (Brian Tyree Henry) and their unusual relationship fills out the story. Lawrence is undeniably one of the finest performers of her generation and she doesn’t disappoint her with her subtle portrayal. Henry, who continues to impress with every role, is up to her standard, providing quiet depth. Director Lila Neugebauer has kept things simple, no grand emotions or big scenes. As a result, this film is an understated, yet tender character study about 2 damaged people and how they came together. (3.5 / 5)
