When director Baz Luhrman was researching his 2022 “Elvis” biopic, he discovered 68 boxes of previously unseen 16Mmm and 35mm footage, including Presley’s legendary Las Vegas residency in the 1970s. He skillfully edited it with other rare footage including 8mm film from Graceland, as well as interviews, rehearsals and news clips. He sent it to Peter Jackson’s company to beautifully restore the footage and enhance the sound. The result is a magnificent! Not only does it look fantastic, but the editing of the same song from different concerts is flawless. This doc not only showcases Elvis’ effortless vocals, but his charisma with a crowd and devilish sense of humor. If anyone has doubts about his talent, this thrilling and entertaining film will reinforce his well-deserved title as “The King.” BTW, the EPiC is an acronym for Elvis Presley in Concert.
