Actors and brothers Brian and Domhnall Gleason created this series. Brian plays the titular loser, living at home with his mum and claiming to be a songwriter, although he has yet to pen a tune. Domhnall (who is more recognizable because of his numerous movie roles), plays his best friend called Doofus…does that name need any more explanation? They bounce around getting into misadventures with Frank being a bumbling mess, while Doofus is just plain goofy (and providing much of the humor). The pacing is brisk and there are a few amusing supporting characters, especially Pom Boyd as the slutty mom. Despite the thick Irish accents, which are sometimes challenging to navigate, there’s not a lot of genuine comedy here…just plenty of energy and some mildly absurd situations. I’ve only watched the first 3 episodes, but am willing to give it a few more to see if the promise develops. (Six 30-minute episodes)
