A scientist and a park ranger travel into the woods, where they encounter a bunch of hokum about forest spirits. To make matters worse (other than a few minor medical procedures) the only thing that creates any energy is montages of quick cut images and loud abrupt music. There is promise early on, but once things develop, nothing is suspenseful or even makes sense. Director Ben Wheatley knows how to craft interesting imagery, but that’s not nearly enough to make this worth watching.
