Vincent Ledu (Lambert Wilson) is one of France’s iconic haute couture designers (fictional, of course). After he makes a controversial statement that goes viral, it’s up to his family to survive the scandal. They attempt to reinvent themselves for the 21st century with an innovative young designer (Zita Hanrot). Meanwhile, there’s constant strife coming from another major house who wants to absorb them. These situations are played out in delicious drama with continual double-crossing twists. Their decadent lifestyle also adds an element of richness in the attitude, clothes and environments (comparisons to Succession are expected). There’s no effort to be edgy in the direction or approach, just a well-made and continually-involving drama with cool characters and continual surprises.
SO FRENCH: As they announce at the beginning of each episode, this is only presented in French with subtitles…no dubbing, so get out your glasses. (Ten 45-mimute eps) (4.5 / 5)
