This is Hollywood’s second attempt to turn the popular video game into a movie (first was in 1995). The simple plot is that MMA fighter Cole Young (Lewis Tan) joins with others who have special abilities to take on the evil forces from Outworld. Obviously, the plot serves as a background for the numerous violent encounters. As action goes, there are a few inventive treatments among the brutal bashings and bloody bang-ups. Nothing else matters. There have been better battles in other films, but fans of the game will likely find this one sufficiently action-filled and brutal.
