Kristen Bell is up to her usual comic charms as an agnostic podcaster who falls for an affable young rabbi (Adam Brody). Their affection comes on fast, but the cultural differences create conflict. Fortunately, this sweet little romance has several things going for it. The chemistry between them is delightful, while Justine Lupe (her sister), Timothy Simons (his brother) and Tovah Feldshuh (his mother) provide additional fun characters. Erin Foster, who experienced a similar situation in her life, has penned a sometimes funny, but always appealing script. There’s nothing especially new here (including the generic title which was originally Shiksa), but the acting, writing and directing combine to create an amiable and enjoyable romcom. (Ten 30-minute eps, but the ending suggests a 2nd season) (4 / 5)
