Jason Statham teams up again with director Guy Ritchie for another action adventure. Statham plays a special agent who must stop yet another sale of world-threatening tech. The scheme is to infiltrate the billionaire arms broker (Hugh Grant who’s loving being mean and smarmy) by introducing his favorite movie star into his life (Josh Hartnett, also having fun playing a bewildered actor). Statham does his usual wise-cracking, bone-breaking character, but Aubrey Plaza adds more comic snap. The dialogue has Ritchie’s trademark quips and there are a few action encounters, but they seem a more tame than their past collabs…maybe Ritchie is mellowing? Even though there’s nothing new here, they have created a trite but entertaining caper.
