Even if a recent episode of SNL isn’t great, you can depend on the shorts by Please Don’t Destroy to amuse. They’re that trio of dorks: Martin Herlihy, John Higgins and Ben Marshall and this is their first feature film, which it takes their characters (themselves) on an adventure to find a lost treasure. Their slightly surreal setups take real-world situations and make them absurdly funny. This delightful romp is loaded with silly gags, often at their own expense and genuinely hilarious moments (the hawk scene flies to mind). Toss in Conan O’Brien and Bowen Yang to their comic touch. Since their background is short segments, it could have been a challenge to make a feature length film, but they maintain enough narrative thruline to keep it continuously entertaining fun.
