Poker Face

Natasha Lyonne plays a woman with the ability to tell if someone is lying. In a throwback to the classic TV mysteries of the 70s/80s (there are Easter eggs), she uses that ability to solve a murder every week. Plus, since she’s on the run, it’s an entirely new cast on every episode, including Nick Nolte, EllenBarkin, Adrien Brody, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Judith Light.  Oh yes, there is a villain after her (Benjamin Bratt). To make it even more entertaining, it’s written and directed by Rian Johnson, so there’s lots of clever plotting, unique characters and dark comedy. It’s fascinating to see Johnson create new crimes and drop hints to solve them, while having it revolve around Lyonne’s inimitable style, making for a unique and engaging whodunit. (Review based on 4 episodes with additional ones dropping weekly) 4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5)
