In a fun switch on the expected, Awkwafina plays the introverted braianac, while Sandra Oh gets to be the wild sister. When their mom goes missing, they have to figure out how to pay off her debts and get back their kidnapped dog. Since the smart sister is an at-home whiz at a long-running TV quiz show, she ends up a contestant. The comic energy that drives this duo makes for a fun pairing. Tony Hale, Will Ferrell and Jason Swartzman add enjoyable supporting comedy moments (with one surprise cameo in his final movie). While there’s not a lot of outright laughter, there’s plenty of exuberance energy, esp. Oh in her outrageous outfits and attitude to match.
