Redux Redux

This film moves the multiverse out of Marvel territory. Michaela McManus plays a woman whose daughter was killed, so she travels through parallel universes, repeatedly killing the murderer. Along the way, she teams up with a runaway (Stella Marcus) that adds some humanity to the story. Although there are kills, they’re often quick, so it’s not about the action. It’s also set in a grubby town, so don’t expect any cool visuals. After we put all the pieces together, it’s primarily about the effect this process has on her. Interestingly, it’s written and directed by The McManus Brothers, who are literally her brothers. With any project dancing around quantum physics theories, there are challenges to the logic, but it doesn’t matter. This is a scrappy indie film that’s appealing in its earnest examination of revenge and grief with a sci-fi angle. 3 out of 5 stars (3 / 5)
