James Nesbitt plays a father whose daughter goes missing, while his wife (Minnie Driver) spends most of her screen time in a coma. Harlan Coben mysteries are becoming a Netflix staple and this one has many of the usual elements: secrets and surprises, occasional sporadic violence and confusing emotions. Some of this works well, even though there’s too much early time spent setting up the multiple characters and plots, which requires patience. The only thrill payoffs don’t occur until the last two eps. The performances can tend to the melodramatic, but OK. This feels like a series tied to streaming algorithms, but even though the twists are unexpected, anything goes with Coben. The whole thing is passable, but not especially memorable.
