Spider-man: No Way Home

At the end of the last installment, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) was outed as the titular superhero. Since his identity was compromised and the public scrutiny has destroyed his life, he goes to Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to help him return to anonymity. Of course, things go wrong and all sorts of surprises enter this world from other universes. The structure follows the typical storyline, but ramps up with extra villains and heroes. Holland once again exhibits his charisma and he’s surrounded by a cast of assured actors whose chemistry (sometimes comic) is a bonus. The pace never lags until the final conflict, which drags on too long with much of the usual staging that looks more like a videogame than reality. Fans should be thrilled at the meta revelations, while everyone else can expect more of the same for this series. NOTE: Sit thru the credits for a teaser for the next Dr. Strange film. 3.5 out of 5 stars (3.5 / 5)
