My husband and I have been together 31 years, so this movie has particular relevance, although the subject certainly translates to any couple. Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci play 20-year partners who take a road trip across England. It’s an especially poignant journey, because one of them is facing the escalating symptoms from his fatal disorder. Obviously, such intense circumstances demand potent performances and this duo captures their trying complexities with subtle grace that leads to genuine emotional impact. Writer/director Harry Macqueen tells the story with understated, yet effective sensitivity. This universally important medical dilemma is faced with modest grace in an intimate and affecting love story.
