This is NOT a disaster series depicting the horrors of a plane about to explode. The explosion happens in the sky and we only see the devastation on the ground. Almost immediately, we meet the Scot who gets deeply involved in the investigation (Connor Swindells). This procedural goes into deep detail about how they spent 20+ years getting to the truth. The village of Lockerbie, where most of the plane crashed, is highlighted to depict the devastating effect it had on the residents and their warm response to those left. The scrutiny is also complicated by the continual friction between the Scottish authorities and the FBI. This is essentially an elaborate detective drama that effectively details the complex issues and processes that were involved with an occasional touch of emotional empathy. Interestingly, British character actor Eddie Marsan is cast as a Southern-accented American. Speaking of, you might have to hit the subtitles in the early eps when the Scottish accent is thickest.
