To promote her latest album Jennifer Lopez has released this series of music videos with a feeble narrative to fill in the down time. Her character is supposedly addicted to romance, so she sings about it a lot. Lopez’s performance is strong in the songs and the drama (which she leans on heavily to show off her acting skills). The real standout is the rest: Most of the songs are catchy, while the choreography is frantic, unique and cool. Some spectacular settings and gorgeous cinematography ramps up the visual appeal. Director Dave Meyers has extensive credits in the genre and he brings his expertise to make every moment flashy. There’s also a fun cast of supporting stars, including Jane Fonda, Trevor Noah, Post Malone, Sofia Vergara, Neil deGrasse Tyson and hubby Ben Affleck (in a makeup semi-disguise). If you’re a Lopez fan or enjoy musicals, this film is full of great moments…just ignore the dull drama in between. (3.5 / 5)
