Three Peaks (review)

A German man goes on vacation with his French girlfriend and her son. The relationship between the substitute father and the young boy is sometimes warm, even though the son would rather see his biological parents reconcile. The location in the Italian Dolomites is stunningly picturesque and it’s majesty plays an integral part in the film. Events happen quietly, sometimes starting or ending abruptly, but always with a compelling undertone. It’s beautifully acted (including young Arian Montgomery) and slowly engrossing…with a subtle hint of jeopardy pervading the natural splendor. In French and German with subtitles. (Criterion Cinemas only)
