Earlier this year, VPM (Virginia Public Media, Richmond’s home to PBS and NPR) moved from their former home at 23 Sesame Street in Chesterfield County to Broad Street in downtown Richmond. Meg Garner, Chief Operations Officer, took me for a tour of the very modern new facility.
Two notes: When I panned around the building, many areas looked empty, but Communications Manager Danny Nokes explained, “Our people are everywhere! While some are tied up in meetings elsewhere in the building, many more are out in the community connecting with our partners, out in the field on production shoots, or out on the street reporting the news.”
He also explained that the building that fronts the parking deck on 18 E. Grace Street will eventually be a retail space and they’re in active conversations with local businesses.
BTW, they’re having a special open house tonite for First Friday from 5-8pm downtown. They’ll have a special themed ice cream, a DJ and Studio Two Three will be there with its print truck. (Here’s the announcement)
